Ferry service between Newburgh and Beacon resumed in 2005, forty-two years after it stopped as a result of the opening of the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge. It is operated by NY Waterway under contract with Metro-North, using funds from NYSDOT. In 2007 the ferry service averaged 330 riders a day.
